Enjoy two days of exploring the food, architecture and culture of Portugal’s capital city before setting sail along the stunning Douro River!

DAY ONE | JULY 29, 2019

Spend two days in Lisbon with The Globe’s Publisher and CEO Phillip Crawley.

Welcome to Lisbon! Where better to begin our journey than in the country’s vibrant capital city. Enjoy complimentary transfer from the airport to the five-star Tivoli heritage hotel, ideally located in the heart of Lisbon on the prestigious Avenida da Liberdade.

Spend the afternoon relaxing in the secluded poolside garden or stroll the mosaic pedestrian boulevards to luxury boutiques, historic landmarks and local restaurants.

That evening, join your Globe and Mail hosts, including Phillip Crawley, Stephanie Nolen, Alex Bozikovic, Beppi Crosariol, and Tara O’Brady, along with fellow guests, for a welcome reception on the rooftop Sky Bar.

DAY TWO | JULY 30, 2019

After complimentary breakfast at the Tivoli Hotel, explore the city with a Globe and Mail journalist on one of three custom-designed tours.

Board a Scenic coach with Stephanie Nolen and a local city expert to explore Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks. If this is your first trip to Lisbon, this an ideal way to get an overview of the city.

Alternatively, delve deeper into Lisbon’s cultural history through its architecture. Alex Bozikovic and local architect Margarida Borges will take you on a walking tour through the historic city centre. You’ll discover the minimalist brilliance of Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza Vieria in Baixa-Chiado, the first modern city of the western world, the unfolding of Lisbon’s waterfront and more.

The third option is for those who prefer to be lead by their stomachs. Tara O’Brady and local culinary experts will take you through back streets of Lisbon to discover the very best food and drink Lisbon has to offer. Learn about the city’s culinary evolution while travelling by foot, stopping frequently to sip and savour.

Following a free afternoon, the entire group heads to the stunning hilltop Eleven Restaurant. There you’ll receive an introduction to the wines of Portugal from Beppi Crosariol and be indulged by Joachim Koerper, a Michelin-starred Chef and master of Mediterranean cuisine.

DAY THREE | JULY 31, 2019

We depart Lisbon, stopping briefly in the medieval town of Coimbra, where you’ll have a chance to wonder the streets, shop or enjoy lunch in the Sun. We then journey to Porto where we’ll join the rest of the cruise guests as we board the Scenic Azure.
